1. Draper Girls Country Farm – a unique farm specialising in pick your own fruit experience
Draper Girls Country Farm is one of the best places to go apple picking near Portland. Only a little over an hour away from Portland using I-84, you get a pick-your-own fruit experience that will have your apples and pears last for at least two months in the fridge compared to the couple weeks they stay fresh if purchased from the store.
Apples are in season from early September to late October at Draper Girls Country Farm. Besides being able to pick your apples, you can also pick your cherries, peaches, and pears. Usually, apples and pears are available for picking at the same time during September and October.

2. Sherwood Orchards – Pick your own fruit orchard, offering many unique varieties of fruit
Sherwood Orchards is a member of the Tri-County Farm Group where pick-your-own produce is available at participating farms throughout Oregon in Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties.
Once known as Oliphant Orchards when it originated 150 years ago (the name was changed in 2005 to the current one now), Sherwood Orchards has over 1,300 fruit trees.
In mid to late June or July is when the orchard first opens for cherry-picking. Pears and apples are ready for picking from September to October with their fruit season ending in November.

As a 5th generation family farm, Douglas Farm on Sauvie Island in Multnomah County specializes in U-Pick produce during its open season.
According to their official website, their motto is “Nothing is as sweet as a Douglas peach”. The specialty they grow is Red Haven peaches with the peak of the season happening in July.

Oregon Heritage Farms operates from mid to late August until November and are closed during the off-season. There are about 200 acres of apple trees throughout the farm for ample apple picking during the season.
Viewing the animals and utilizing the picnic tables for breakfast and lunch are free amenities at the farm. Participate in happy hour from 3pm to 5pm daily for half dozen apple donuts and an apple slushie all for $5. You must order online and pick up at the farm to be able to get the happy hour offer.

Bell’s Orchard is well-known for U-Pick services in their “Short Orchard”.
The orchard is also known for their pink lady apples, which are a sweet and crisp winter apple available at the end of the apple picking season.
Other apple varieties available include Braeburn, Golden delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, Honeycrisp, and more. Some of their apple varieties are not available during specific yearly seasons, so check their fruit availability online before you make your visit.

Besides apple picking for local patrons, Beilke Family Farm offers school trip packages for children to enjoy apple picking during the season. It costs $3 per child in attendance while teachers and chaperones are free as long as a $20 minimum has been achieved. Each child gets to pick 3 apples from the orchard.

9. Jossy Farms – A U-pick farm specializing in apples and pears during the summer and Hazelnuts in the fall
Jossy Farms originated in 1885 and has been delivering apples and other fresh produce to Oregon residents and tourists for almost 140 years.
Apples and pears are offered for U-pick in the summer. If you like to incorporate nuts in your diet, come back to Jossy Farms during November to take advantage of hazelnuts and walnuts for sale either in cracked or in their shell.
To prevent bruising as you pick your own fruit, the farm members provide carts for you that are accustomed to picking. They say not to bring your own buckets for this reason.

10. Fruits of Diversity Community Orchard – Home to over 48 fruit trees, dozens of edible shrubs, herbs, native plants for pollinators, and so much more
Fruits of Diversity Community Orchard has 48 fruit trees as well as edible bushes to deliver fresh fruit to residents of local apartment complexes and community members in general.
Located in the Portsmouth District, there are culinary and medicinal herbs grown in the orchard besides the apples and other fruits grown in the orchard.
If you want to participate in this great cause, you can sign up for their volunteer events when the orchard is in its harvest season.

11. Topaz Farm – Vast farm featuring produce, seasonal corn maze, concerts & farm-to-plate dinners on Sauvie Island
Topaz Farm is temporarily closed, but there are events throughout the off-season that keeps the farm running such as a Greens Sale, Sauvie Island Center Family Day, and Spring Festivals all annually in March.
During the fall, you can pick apples and pumpkins. In the spring and summer, you can pick strawberries and blueberries. For summer into fall, you can even cut your own flowers to make bouquets for any occasion.
In the summer, check out the Sunflower Maze festival. 2022 marks this 2nd annual event.

12. Bella Organic Farm – U-Pick produce, wine tasting, loads of kids activities with a fun Corn Maze
Bella Organic Farm does more than harvest apples and other produce: they also operate as a winery.
Bella’s Courtyard is their store that sells homemade hot food, confections, beer, wine, and more that is open throughout each weekend of the year.
For U-pick, go for apples and pumpkins in the fall and berries in the late spring to summertime. Blueberries, blackberries, and marionberries can be picked in July. Marionberries carry over into August for picking. Sour pie cherries are available in July while heirloom tomatoes are available in August.
