When you hear the words ‘St. Tropez’, you may picture chic celebrity-studded beach clubs, sleek yachts, and high-end dining establishments. Behind the glitz and glamour however, the region brims with old-world ambience, reflected in its narrow cobblestone streets, shady squares, and scenic pastel-coloured buildings.
Adding to St. Tropez’s allure is an awe-inspiring backdrop of mesmerizing deep-blue waters, and a Mediterranean countryside sprinkled with cypresses, olive groves, and pine trees.
Besides its rugged hiking paths and sun-drenched shores, St. Tropez offers some of the most jaw-dropping hotels on the French Riviera, ranging from gorgeous vineyard boutiques to trendy five-star resorts. From my many trips to St. Tropez, France I have handpicked my favourite cool and unusual hotels in the area (in no particular order)...
1. Kube Saint-Tropez – a hip and trendy and Insta-worthy beachfront retreat that is the first upscale “technological resort” in St-Tropez
Exuding the ultimate ‘beachy’ lifestyle, this funky waterfront retreat is a haven where the ambiance of the Mediterranean meets the style of Miami.
It is a place where luxury and vitality are combined, on the edge of the world-famous fishing village. Framed by manicured, sculpture-strewn gardens overlooking the bay, the hotel has seen the recent addition of brand-new villas, zen pools, and a swish spa. I loved the contrast between day and night here, which saw the hotel evolve from a soft boho space to a vibrant hub of entertainment.
As a guest you can also enjoy yoga sessions, a state-of-the-art gym, a beauty salon, and guestrooms adorned with beautiful terraces peering out over the sparkling gulf.

Wooden benches, rattan chairs, travertine tables, and embroidered noble textiles combine to fuel an interior aesthetic expressing boldness and freedom, paying tribute to the panache of the French Riviera. Designed as a Provençal hamlet, the hotel reveals itself as a warm haven brightened by a palette of sunny colours and natural materials.
I thought this resort felt more like a family mansion, in which couples, groups, lone travellers, and families can all come together to create epic, life-lasting memories.

As lovers of the region, the owners have restored the authentic, traditional architecture, and added a touch of youth through modern, boutique furnishings. My favourite feature of the property was its location, surrounded by vineyards, shaded by umbrella pines, yet set a few steps from the white sand beaches.

My first true adventure began as a six month voyage around South East Asia as a fresh faced backpacker and ever since I’ve lived a semi nomadic existence, clocking up visits to over 40 countries. I’m a lover of US Road Trips, deserted beaches bathed in warm glow of a sunset, Cuban mojitos, travel destinations far away from the tourist crowds and all things Scandinavian – from cloudberry liquors to Nordic noirs. When not wandering the world and running Global Grasshopper, you’ll find me walking my rescued Greek street dog in leafy South West London, strolling around the Brighton Lanes on random day trips, hunting for photogenic landscapes or daydreaming about my favourite places; Havana, Copenhagen, Italy, Laos, California and the surreally beautiful landscapes of a wintry Iceland.
